Factors Affecting The Coating Quantity Of The Coater

(1) Scraper pressure Currently, scrapers used to apply glue to sticks are basically stainless steel blades. During coating, the pressure of the scraper on the rubber roller is too small, and when there are impurities, the scraper will be pushed up to form a gap, making the coating uneven and adding coating amount. The factors that affect the blade pressure are: the hardness and softness of the blade, and the viewing point between the blade and the substrate. During actual operation, the coating machine manufacturer should adjust the blade with a pressure hammer, and the blade pressure is usually around 200~400kPa.
(2) The viewing point between the blade and the contact tangent of the anilox roller is typically between 15 ° and 30 °. If the viewing point is too large, the blade almost presses against the anilox roller, and the outer surface of the anilox roller is not smooth. When it operates at high speed, it can cause the elastic blade to stir or jump, causing the solution to bounce up, forming an uneven coating amount, leading to the question of large differences in coating amount. Other too large viewpoints can easily damage the blade.
(3) Blade sharpness The sharpness of a blade primarily depends on the point of view of blade wear, the purity of the solution, and the raw material of the blade. If it is a new blade, the blade with a suitable sharpness should effectively clean the adhesive liquid layer on the anilox roller without causing a knife thread. With a moderate sharpness of the knife, it can effectively clean the glue layer and achieve a uniform and common coating amount; Conversely, the fluctuation of the coating amount becomes larger.
(4) Scraper flatness requirements Scraper flatness does not warp or deform, and the coating amount is uniform and common, otherwise the coating amount error will become larger. The flatness of the scraper depends on the method of installing the scraper, and of course, it may also be related to impurities adhering to the knife holder groove or the blade or lining. Therefore, when installing the scraper, the lining should be wiped clean, and then a new knife should be placed behind the lining and installed in the groove. To rotate the blade back screw, first tighten it from the center of the blade, then gradually tighten it to both ends, and both ends should be tightened in turns. To prevent the blade from bending, it should be completed two or three times when tightening the screw. While rotating the screw, hold a piece of cloth to clamp the blade and lining, and tighten it firmly to one side. This way, the assembled scraper is relatively flat, ensuring uniformity of coating.
(5) The left and right movement of the scraper has an important effect on improving the utilization rate of the scraper and reducing the wear of the scraper on the anilox roller. From this perspective, the mesh wall is less worn, the mesh is relatively deep, and some of the fluid contained is more, which is conducive to achieving the required coating amount. Moving the scraper to the left and right can effectively avoid the occurrence of water marks, and can make the coating amount on the wide width of the substrate more uniform.
